Why Organic?

The answer should be: Of course, Organic.

Commitment, interest and believing that great wines can be made protecting our land, our planet, without using elements that harm everything we love and we wish to leave improved for the future generations.

Organic agriculture does not use chemical fertilizers nor pesticides; it only uses natural and traditional cultivation methods that do not leave any chemical residue in foodstuffs.

Working with the uncertainty that farmers face every day, expecting the most from nature and trying to adapt to the ecosystem, to its rhythms, climate, force and beauty.

We believe that Organic wines are not just a matter of health or taste. Drinking Organic and Biodynamic wines is drinking wines with landscape and soul, in opposition to the monotonous offer from the big industry. A different way of understanding and communicating with nature.

The Winery

Built in 1998, in the heart of La Rioja Baja, in Aldeanueva de Ebro, it has a wine making capacity of 600,000 litres and all the wine produced is organic wine.

The winery consists of three buildings: elaboration, ageing and bottling.

In the elaboration building there are stainless steel and concrete tanks whose capacity ranges between 500 and 50,000 litres. In the ageing building there are 600 French and American oak barrels, where the wine waits in silence until it turns into the whole meaning of La Rioja. The bottle store has a capacity of 90,000 bottles.

Using all our knowledge and always trying to show our personality in our wines. A faithful reflection of a landscape and the respect for the vineyards’ ecosystem, SOL Y LUNA wines are the result of a combination of elegant aromas and unique flavors.

We offer top-level wines, as good as the best, whether they respect or not our philosophy of love for our environment. We produce first quality wines with a soul, not seeking large production numbers but making a careful selection both in the vineyard and at the winery.

Work and passion, all condensed in a wine glass that is the reward for our efforts and dedication.

Sol y Luna Crianza 2015

Organic Red Crianza Wine D.O.Ca. Rioja. Certificate of organic production comprising both growing and vinification procedures.

VARIETIES: Tempranillo 85%, Garnacha 15%
AGEING: 12 months ageing in American oak barrels
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14 %
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14-17ºC

TASTING NOTES
Cherry red color, with ruby tinges at the rim. Clean and very intense aroma displaying a remarkable harmony between fruit and oak. Hints of both ripe and fresh red and black fruits with spicy and roasted notes reflecting the input from the oak. Powerful and full taste in the mouth with a presence of ripe wild berries (currant and blackberry), licorice and sweet sensations from the tannins. It has a well-balanced acidity matching this wine perfectly. Powerful and rich fruity retronasal persistence and long aftertaste.

PAIRING
Game or hearty meats are ideal to go with this wine. Well suited to accompany oily fish, red meat, different types of cheeses, appetizers etc.

Sol y Luna Tinto 2017

VARIETIES: Tempranillo Blanco 100%, madurado en bodega durante 3 meses
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 12.5 %
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 10-12ºC

TASTING NOTES
Intense red cherry color, well rounded, with violet and purple highlights. Great intensity and clean aromas. Quite fruity. Red fruits: strawberry, raspberry with a very nice sweet touch, on a strong base of red liquorice and violet candies. Soft and sweet in the mouth, with well-balanced acidity that gives liveliness and freshness to the wine.

PAIRING
Great accompaniment of starters, Serrano ham, cured and blue cheese. Ideal for a variety of dishes: fish, red and white meats, barbecues, rice, omelets and mushrooms. Pairs especially well with spicy dishes.

Sol y Luna Rosado 2017

Organic Rosé Wine D.O.Ca. Rioja. Certificate of organic production comprising both growing and vinification procedures.

VARIETIES: Garnacha 100%
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 7-10ºC

TASTING NOTES
Pale pink color with some raspberry highlights. Clean and very bright. Displays pleasant and subtle fresh and fruity aromas reminiscent of ripe cherries and strawberries, as well as tropical fruits like passion fruit, black currant and pineapple, and also citrus fruits like grapefruit, underlying a dense aroma of caramel candy. Ample and fresh entrance, soft and sweet with a rich gourmet touch. The remaining carbonic acid adds a sparkling and fresh sensation on the palate that these wines are so valued for.

PAIRING
Thanks to its freshness it is a perfect aperitif and matches with young and semicured cheese, olives, smoked appetizers, carpaccio, fresh salads, mushrooms and cold soups. Particularly suited for fish, rice and seafood in general. And the right choice for artichokes and asparagus.

Sol y Luna Blanco 2016

Organic Oaked White Wine D.O.Ca. Rioja. Certificate of organic production comprising both growing and vinification procedures

VARIETIES: White Tempranillo 100%,
AGEING: Aged in the winery for 3 months.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 12.5%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 10-12ºC

TASTING NOTES
Golden yellow color. Clean, bright and crystalline appearance. Prevalence of floral notes (white flowers), ripe white fruits (quince, pear, etc.) and tropical fruits (passion fruit, pineapple, etc.), on a background of smoky taste and honey. Complex aroma, subtle and delicate, with a perfect combination of wood and fruit. Entry into the mouth is sweet, captivating, ample, with roasted and greedy touches. Nice and fine smoky aftertaste.

PAIRING
It shows great aptitude to accompany different dishes. It is a perfect match for young and semicured cheese, olives, smoked appetizers, carpaccio, fresh salads, cold soups and mushrooms. Especially suitable with fish, rice and seafood in general. It is an appropriate choice for artichokes and asparagus. Being a full-bodied white wine, it can also accompany meats.
